Director of Broadcasting & Media — Cole Purvis

Cole Purvis is a sophomore at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. He is a Saco, Maine native and a graduate of Thornton Academy. At Syracuse, Purvis is the Assistant Sports Director for WJPZ Radio, where he calls play-by-play for SU basketball and lacrosse, and works in-studio as a live host and producer. He also works on the sports desk at WAER, assisting with social media and broadcast production, with an eventual role as an on-air talent. Additionally, Purvis has extensive experience on-camera with CitrusTV, working as a beat reporter and studio host. This spring, he will begin a stint as the SU men’s lacrosse beat reporter, after spending semesters covering the softball and women’s soccer teams. He travels the country to cover these squads for select road games. Purvis got his start with TATV, Thornton Academy’s broadcasting and journalism club. He spenthis high school days announcing TA sporting events and creating content for the school’s social media pages. He looks forward to spending the summer at Goodall Park and telling the stories of the Sanford Mainers to the Southern Maine community and beyond.
