Position Summary
The Concession Stand Manager supports the mission of the non-profit summer collegiate baseball league by overseeing concession operations during home games and special events. This role plays a key part in generating revenue to support team operations while ensuring a safe, efficient, and enjoyable game-day experience for fans.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all concession stand operations during home games and league events
- Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule concession staff and/or volunteers
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
- Ensure accurate cash handling, point-of-sale operation, and end-of-game reconciliation
- Monitor inventory, track sales, and coordinate purchasing to minimize waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health department guidelines, and league policies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming concession area
- Address customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary
- Collaborate with league leadership and game-day staff to support overall operations
- Uphold the values and mission of the non-profit organization
Qualifications
- Experience in food service, concessions, retail, or event operations preferred
- Leadership, supervisory, or volunteer coordination experience a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Basic math and cash-handling skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season
- Dependable, positive, and team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to complete food safety training or certification if required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry supplies (up to 30 lbs.)
Schedule
- Seasonal summer position
- Primarily evenings and weekends based on home game schedule
Compensation
- Stipend position: $5,000 for season + $250 per playoff home game
- Benefits may include free meals, discounted team apparel, and complimentary admission to games
Concessions Operations Intern
Location: Sanford Mainers – Goodall Park, Sanford, Maine
Internship Term: June 1 – August 15
Position Summary
The Concession Stand Manager Assistant Intern supports the operation, staffing, and customer service functions of the Sanford Mainers concession stand during all home games. This role provides hands-on experience in food service management, event operations, and volunteer coordination. It is an internship position intended for students pursuing a career in restaurant management, event management, or a related field, and is not a full-time employment opportunity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Concession Stand Manager with daily concession stand operations, including supervising and supporting volunteer staff.
- Attend all Sanford Mainers home games (22 regular-season games, plus any playoff games).
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace; report any maintenance or safety concerns to the Concession Stand Manager.
- Contribute to creating an efficient, positive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Provide support during high-traffic times by assisting with concession sales and service.
- Work alongside volunteers and help cover shifts in cases of cancellations or scheduling needs.
- Assist with inventory tracking and monitoring of all concession products.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately, ensuring correct menu and inventory data.
- Prepare menu items prior to game start, including hot foods and other offerings.
Additional duties to support daily stand operations may include:
- Opening procedures and setup
- Training volunteers on register use and basic food preparation
- Closing the stand at the end of the event
- Ensuring merchandise and product displays are properly stocked and presented
Additional Information
- Hours vary based on the home game schedule and operational needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage warmly with customers and maintain a welcoming environment is expected.
- Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) may be required.
- ServSafe certification is preferred but not required.
- This position reports directly to the Concession Stand Manager.
- A stipend will be awarded at the end of the season, with the amount determined by the Sanford Mainers Board of Directors.
