A Mainer scholarship is awarded annually to a Sanford High School student for continuing their education. The scholarship is based on financial need, intended course of study, citizenship, extra-curricular activities, and outside interests.

The Mainers began awarding scholarships annually in 2009 after auctioning off game worn jerseys in 2008. Funded through an auction of game jerseys in 2008.

Applicants are required to complete forms and write an essay on a topic determined by the Mainers Scholarship Committee.  Applications are due by April 15th.  Finalists are interviewed by the committee.
